Coming to Kickstarter

HeyEddi Doomsday Box

Your network.
Your data.
Offline when it matters.

Stream to your TVs, run local compute, keep AI on-box, stay useful offline, and put protection on the path. Open source when units ship.

A small
home computer

HeyEddi Doomsday Box keeps your movies, files, and AI on your network, helps protect the home network, and still works when the internet is down. DIY builders can use compatible boards too.

Streaming

Your library. Your screens.

Host personal video and audio on the box, then play it on devices on your LAN: phones, browsers, and connected TVs that can open local media. No forced cloud account between you and the living room.

  • Personal cloud for films, shows, music, and files
  • Stream to TVs and speakers on your home network
  • Serve the LAN first; WAN only when you choose

Computing

Always-on, barely sipping watts.

Docker-friendly stack on Intel N100/N150 class silicon. Run the services you need at home without a rack full of noise.

  • Lean containers for home services
  • Target power draw in the low teens of watts
  • Same software story for DIY ARM64 builds

Local AI

Models that stay on the box.

Run local LLMs through Ollama-class tooling. Ask questions, draft notes, and automate without shipping prompts to a vendor cloud.

  • Works when the uplink is down
  • Your prompts stay on your hardware
  • Pick models that fit the N100/N150 envelope

Offline

Still useful with no uplink.

Keep knowledge archives and core home services reachable on your LAN when the internet is slow, capped, or gone.

  • Offline knowledge packs (Kiwix-style)
  • Files, media, and local apps stay on the box
  • Household devices talk to the box, not a distant CDN

Network

Protection on the path you choose.

Sit the box between your ISP router and your existing Wi‑Fi mesh (inline bridge), or run it as a Wi‑Fi access point so devices that join get the same path. An ad-tarpit does not only block trackers: it holds their connections so they waste time and bandwidth instead of reaching you cleanly. Firewall on the host path. VPN-ready when you want a tunnel out. Need more coverage or redundancy? Add a second or third box and run them as a multi-node mesh.

  • Inline bridge: ISP router → box → mesh or LAN
  • Access point mode with tarpit and firewall included
  • Ad-tarpit slows and starves trackers (optional profile)
  • VPN-ready via WireGuard / Gluetun-style profile
  • Multi-box mesh: 2–3 nodes for coverage, load split, redundancy

Two hardware
options

The Kickstarter will test Basic (DDR4) vs Premium (DDR5). Same box, same ports — the memory generation is the difference.

Speed and voice,
not a lock

Kickstarter Insiders get early software access and a say in the roadmap. When physical boxes ship, v1.0 is published free on GitHub under GPLv3.

Planned
rewards

Subject to change. Supporting here does not lock a reward. Each box ships in staged tiers; Duo and Trio packs (Basic) are for mesh homes.
